TASHLICH 

 

Tashlich, the symbolic physical act of casting our sins into a natural body of water (an ocean, lake, river, or stream), is personal and there are no required prayers or texts.  The texts and prayer below are suggestions for your use, if you like.  You may also create your own ritual.

Standing by a natural body of water (an ocean, lake, river, or stream), read from the Prophets aloud or silently as a group or on your own.  

  

Think of those actions or deeds from the past year that you want to “remember to forget” and what you choose to improve upon for the coming year.

When you are ready, take a bit of earth, a pebble, a leaf, or another small, natural element and toss it gently into the body of water as you say:
