THE HIGH HOLIDAYS
Temple Beth Torah provides inspirational and music-filled High Holiday Services using the Mishkan Hanefesh machzur. Our inclusive community brings together congregants, guests, and all who wish to observe the holiest days of the Jewish year at our synagogue in Chantilly, Virgina.
Families are encouraged to attend any and all services together. Rabbi Lauren and Rabbi Block fully understand life with kids and are in no way fazed by the occasional disruption. Self-directed activities will be available for children (or adults) in need of a break during the service.
Rosh Hashanah: We begin High Holidays on the first evening of Rosh Hashanah (Erev Rosh Hashanah) with our traditional evening service. On Rosh Hashanah Morning, we host a free Family Service followed by Rosh Hashanah morning services. Beginning 2023, we will gather at a local park (location TBD) for Tashlich and cast away our transgressions among the trees and a natural water source.
Yom Kippur: Yom Kippur begins with a traditional Kol Nidre service on the first evening. On Yom Kippur day, we host a free Family Service followed by a Traditional Yom Kippur Morning Service. Immediately following the morning service, we hold our Yizkor (memorial) service to remember our loved ones as a community – at TBT, anyone who wishes to participate in Yizkor is welcome. Yom Kippur concludes with Afternoon and N’ilah services followed by a traditional dairy Break-the-Fast community meal.
